The actual bugreport:
When using the graphical frontend of the Debian installer the user is
asked for a root password and for a password of any newly created user.
Unfortunatly these passwords are not saved, so that a login after
installation fails.
That sounds fairly strange because the code is actually...the same.
Which type of keyboard were you using. If not using a US keyboard, did
you put "special" characters in the passwords? The current keyboard
handling in g-i is not perfect because of the gtkdfb version we
use. So, your problem might be here.
i did a complete graphical installation some times ago and everything
worked, including saving of root's password.
I'm also pretty sure the PASSWORD handler of the GTK frontend works, as
i tested it many times.
A question: what's the password you used ? maybe it contains "strange"
characters? (i swear i won't use it to hack your PC :)
