Hmm, if I don't misunderstand, this doesn't sound like a Debian-specific issue. So if you're comfortable with it, I'd recommend pursuing issues like this upstream at either bug-gu...@gnu.org or guile-de...@gnu.org, since that's where the changes would need to be made.
