Eric actually removed the restart template in -6. Do you feel that this is sufficiently important to have one? I'd be inclined to agree with him that it is not; debconf has been removed entirely from the 0.12 pre-packages and I think this is a better idea (there's nothing unusable or inherently broken/insecure about the default settings for MPD itself). So I guess the question is, is this important enough to have some kind of configuration mechanism at all? (For me the answer is no, but I am seriously asking, because I don't want to force that on a disagreeing majority.) -- things change.
