Package: nullmailer Version: 1:1.02-7 Severity: normal
When nullmailer is upgraded non-interactively, (for example, if you run apt-get update && apt-get -y dist-upgrade from a cron job,) the upgrade fails and the nullmailer queue is stopped until an administrator manually finishes the upgrade. ... Setting up nullmailer (1.02-7) ... debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Dialog debconf: (TERM is not set, so the dialog frontend is not usable.) debconf: falling back to frontend: Readline debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Readline debconf: (This frontend requires a controlling tty.) debconf: falling back to frontend: Teletype /var/lib/dpkg/info/nullmailer.postinst: line 17: /dev/tty: No such device or address dpkg: error processing nullmailer (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 ... When I log in and run apt-get dist-upgrade manually from the the bash prompt, it asks me no questions and requires no input, and configures nullmailer without incident. The only reason this is a big deal is because when it happens, the nullmailer queue gets stiuck, so a lot of mail builds up until the administrator (me) has a chance to log in and fix it. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-1-k7-smp Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages nullmailer depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.1 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.6-9 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.1.0-4 GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.1.0-4 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii lsb-base 3.1-5 Linux Standard Base 3.1 init scrip Versions of packages nullmailer recommends: ii sysklogd [system-log-daemon] 1.4.1-18 System Logging Daemon -- debconf information: * shared/mailname: gilgamesh * nullmailer/adminaddr: [EMAIL PROTECTED] * nullmailer/relayhost: postal.westcoastaerospace.com * nullmailer/fqdn: westcoastaerospace.com -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
