Still hapening on 5.10.0-26-amd64 , but this fixed the system:
update-initramfs -u ; update-grub
Did your apt run finish normally? The update of initramfs and grub is commonly
done by postinst hooks, which will be triggered when kernel / zfs is upgraded.
So if running manually can solve the problem, I suspect some faulty packages
might be preventing this process.

When I ran it to fix my system, I ran it manually, and it succeeded.
My system broke "all by itself". Probably some weekly auto update. I
would need to check system logs to see what the system did; but I am not
sure logs will contain the return value or exit message.
I put my laptop to sleep everyt night, so I may have uptime up to 60d
easily, covering 3 to 8 weekly updates; that's why checking log is
difficult : cron weekly may have run 6 or 8 times when I endure the bug !!!
Did not have the issue recently ; my current kernel is
vmlinuz-5.10.0-26-amd64 installed 29 sept.
Today, "apt-get -f install" returns 0.
