I find this logic hard to accept. If you are actually using gitlab, then surely you should see the clear statement of intent on gitlab: upstream uses sourceforge as a source tarball hosting site and clearly expects this to be used. The sourceforge tarball contains a replaced $version. -- Eli Schwartz
