nitime currently only ships a superficial autopkgtest-pkg-python module that makes sure there is no obvious issues with nitime module loading. While this is better than nothing, it would be nice to have some more involved test making use of the nitime module for real. Note that I already tried to move to autopkgtest-pkg-pybuild, but the engine did not manage to capture properly the existing test suite for autopkgtest context, so there will be some more manual work involved.
