Package: python-kid
Version: 0.9.1-2
Severity: normal

During an upgrade today I observe the following output:

Setting up python-kid (0.9.1-2) ...
/usr/share/python-support/kid/kid/importer.py:81: FutureWarning: hex/oct
constants > sys.maxint will return positive values in Python 2.4 and up

Compiling /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/kid/template_util.py ...
  File "/var/lib/python-support/python2.5/kid/template_util.py", line 10
    from __future__ import generators
SyntaxError: from __future__ imports must occur at the beginning of the file

Inspecting the files reveals that several constants are defined prior
to the 'from __future__' statement. Either the future import needs to
be moved to the first line of the file, or it should be removed (since
generators were "future" only in python 2.2).

(possibly the FutureWarning should be fixed as well)
