upstream seems to basciaclly have stopped working on this extension [1], so when Gnome 45 hits unstable, I will very likely file a RM bug of this package. I'm pondering with packaging https://github.com/G-dH/vertical-workspaces as an replacement, but did not check it is feasible or a general fit for Debian.
