Package: libpam-ldap
Version: 180-1
Severity: minor

If my /etc/nsswitch.conf has:

shadow: files ldap

things work fine:

# ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]'s password:
Your account has expired; please contact your system administrator
Connection closed by 131.170.184.28

If however I force pam_ldap to be used for the account service instead
of pam_unix (either by removing ldap from the shadow NSS entry or by
changing my PAM config files)

then I get:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]'s password:
Connection closed by 131.170.184.28

With no explanation as to what is going wrong.

I think a message would be good, as the second response is confusing.

Thanks
