Thanks for your response, I think this is mostly on me, but some comments on 
why I missed this:

I must confess that I didn’t notice the info about updates in here (but 
re-reading I find the mention of the /usr/share/pdns-backend-pgsql/schema 
directory, which was the primary thing I was looking for. It was just that on 
skimming that file it looked only about setting up the server.
It might’ve been easier for me to spot if there was a separate section about 
updates as I had just disregarded that file given the ‘title’ (and in fact I 
ended up getting the schema updates from the upstream repo).

I’d understand that you’d want to close this bug.
