Hi all,

Looks like this request is out there for a while. I am a user of this 
package as well and I have been looking into how to upgrade this 
upstream version and I would like to help with this.

I found the most recent version is 7.8.1, I would suggest to upgrade to 
this version instead, unless there is any objection against it.

I just need a little guidance on how to get seasoned for debian package 
maintenance (am responsible for package maintenance for production 
systems, but not within the debian context).

I have the new version building locally, but someone experienced will 
need to review this and all being well approve.
