retitle 275836 Manual page is unclear about button 3 usage thanks On Sun, Oct 10, 2004 at 06:56:18PM +0300, Tapio Lehtonen wrote: > It is not possible to exit lwm as it does not bring up a menu > by pressing mouse button 3 on root window. Ah. I see the confusion. The menu that is brought up by lwm is a menu of all the hidden windows. It doesn't have options like "start a new window manager" or "run random program". The lwm philosophy is to have that functionality in a different program. Having said that, if you're using lwm without a session manager, I think it needs to have the "exec another window manager" functionality, as killing lwm will cause your X session to end. I'll raise this point with upstream. In the meantime, I'll fix the manpage so it doesn't confuse others: .PP A button 3 click on a window frame hides that window. Pressing -button 3 on the root window brings up a menu. The various items unhide -the named hidden window. +button 3 on the root window brings up a menu of all the hidden windows. +Releasing the button while over an item will unhide the named window. -- "Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception." -- Mark Twain -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
