Maybe checking for existence of /proc/acpi/toshiba/ before running
invoke-rc.d in maintainer scripts would be a good idea. Otherwise
it's not possible to install/remove the package if the toshiba
kernel module is not present/loaded. You have to manually edit
/var/lib/dpkg/info/fnfxd.p* then to be able to remove the package.

And I think there's an logic error in the error message:

"fatal error: Could open /proc/acpi/toshiba/keys."
                   ^
                   I assume this should be "not" :)
