I certainly didn't and there was at least one poster (not sure wether here or in a related bugreport) who said when he chooses a language through the menu of gdm, that language is properly set. The last thing of course is done through gdm's Xsession script, so I think I'm right if I say that gdm does _not_ propagate the locale setting read in it's init script. For whatever reasons, maybe the environment is cleared with code in the source of gdm.
