severity 368095 minor
thanks

This is indeed a bug, though a minor one (hard to actually invoke).
It will be fixed in the next release, which will be after my phone provider
finally fixes my DSL. (I'm on expensive per-minute dialup at the moment).

Alastair

The slang_install_prefix was corrected to /usr in version 2.0.6-1,
closing Bug#353282. This means that some scripts that rely on
slang_install_prefix being correctly set to /usr fail when using
libslang2 << 2.0.6-1.

This is the case of jed's site.sl, as discussed in the thread initiated by:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-jed-devel/2006-May/000703.html

Now, when the jed package is built, the dependency on libslang2 is
automatically set by dh_shlibdeps to libslang2 (>= 2.0.1-1).  This
happens because this line in slang2's debian/rules:

   dh_makeshlibs  -V "${LIBSLANG} (>= 2.0.1-1)" --add-udeb="${LIBSLANG_UDEB}"

We could circumvent the problem by forcing the dependency to libslang2
(>= 2.0.6-1), but then we get an annoying Lintian warning about
duplicated dependencies (because we use ${shlib:Depends}).

At any rate, I am not sure that this is really a bug, but we (the JED
Debian group) think that tightening the makeshlibs -V option to 2.0.6-1
makes sense. Feel free to close this bug report if you think otherwise.
