This bug's been sitting here unacknowledged for a year now. It looks like I'm going to have to inflate the severity - it is, after all, a Debian Policy 10.7.2 "must", of a type specifically mentioned in "http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt" (section 3). It may well be fixable with a one-line patch to asmounter.c, but if not, policy goes on to suggest a workaround: # If your package creates or uses configuration files outside of # /etc, and it is not feasible to modify the package to use /etc # directly, put the files in /etc and create symbolic links to those # files from the location that the package requires. -- JBR Ankh kak!
