Package: rinse Version: 4.1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
when trying essntially an examp,e, rinse fials wioth a message like this: The package list for the distribution rocky-8 was not found. We expected to find: /usr/sbin/../etc/rocky-8.packages Aborting. I think the default path should be /etc/rinse, not /usr/sbin/../etc/, for two reasons: the files are obviously stored in /etc/rinse, and debian policy does not allow config files in /usr/etc (not would it allow assuming /usr/../etc is trhe same as /etc(. Ther problem is also not just limited to --distribution, as speciyfing something like ../../../../etc/rinse/rocky-8 to work aorund the first issue causes another, simiar problem when reeading rinse.conf: The configuration file /usr/sbin/../etc/rinse.conf was not found. Aborting. Note also that the manpage wrongly says the default confgig file is /etc/rinse/rinse.conf, but it is not, as specfying that path directly via --config makes rinse find it, apparently. I haven't foiund away to invoke rinse so far, though, even with tricks, so it seems to be seriouslöy hosed atm.- -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (990, 'stable-updates'), (990, 'stable-security'), (990, 'stable'), (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'testing-debug'), (500, 'oldstable-debug'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental-debug'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386, x32 Kernel: Linux 6.1.41-schmorp (SMP w/24 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_PROPRIETARY_MODULE, TAINT_USER, TAINT_WARN, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_IE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_IE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages rinse depends on: ii cpio 2.13+dfsg-7.1 ii libterm-size-perl 0.211-1+b2 ii libwww-perl 6.68-1 ii perl 5.36.0-7 ii rpm 4.18.0+dfsg-1+b1 ii rpm2cpio 4.18.0+dfsg-1+b1 ii wget 1.21.3-1+b2 rinse recommends no packages. rinse suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
