I can confirm the bug, but it is not easy to fix. I use the libraries (apt-xapian/libept) to access the apt database. The bug is caused by a bug in apt-xapian. Both libept and apt-xapian are not really actively maintain and my request for a roadmap for those libraries was left unanswered (https://lists.debian.org/deity/2022/11/msg00016.html) So I could try to switch to using libapt directly, but libapt is poorly documented and not very easy to use. Therefore fixing this bug might take quite a long time for me to get done (with what little time I have left to devote to packagesearch development...).
