As a non-maintainer I didn't want to be the one to suggest that (at least not immediately), but I'm always happy to see the number of unmaintained, undermaintained and/or obsolete packages go down. Doing testing and mass-bug-filing for SDL 1.2 has made me think "why is this in the archive? is its value really greater than its QA cost?" about quite a lot of the affected packages. The beginning of a release cycle, when the majority of packages in unstable are identical to the versions in stable, seems like an excellent time to clean up obsolete packages, knowing that anyone who wants to resurrect them can easily fetch the most recent version from stable. smcv
