thanks

Hi Bill,

thank you for your patience - it took some time to systematically
reproduce your bug report.

I've tried the following permutations:

  1. virtualbox with one disk:
    1.1 encrypted-partition-on-luks (guided partitioning)
1.1.1 installing "standard" (no tasks selected)
1.1.2 installing "gnome-desktop" (default task selection)
    1.2 encrypted-partition-on-luks (manual partitioning)
1.2.1 installing "standard" (no tasks selected)
1.2.2 installing "gnome-desktop" (default task selection)

  2. virtualbox with two disks attached, only using one:
    2.1 encrypted-partition-on-luks (guided partitioning)
2.1.1 installing "standard" (no tasks selected)
2.1.2 installing "gnome-desktop" (default task selection)
    2.2 encrypted-partition-on-luks (manual partitioning)
2.2.1 installing "standard" (no tasks selected)
2.2.2 installing "gnome-desktop" (default task selection)

So in total I did 8 installation with debian-12.0.0-amd64-netinst.iso
and could not reproduce it. I tried everything twice, with a virtualbox
that has two disks attached just to be sure that there's no bug
"sneaking" in mdadm due to some autodetection.

At this point I'm out of ideas on how you ended up with mdadm in the
scenario you described. If you can still reproduce it, please let me
know how (and reopen the bug). In the meanwhile, I'm closing it.

Regards,
Daniel
