I've noticed the same behavior. I upgraded from Debian 11 to 12 and
transmission-daemon memory usage just goes up and up until my system starts
swapping hard and becomes unresponsive. This morning I caught it in the act
and saw it using 90% of 16G RAM. At some points, I noticed that
transmission-daemon was no longer running and I assumed that it had stopped
starting at boot. Now I suspect that the oom killer killed it, but I
haven't seen the oom killer in my logs. The only thing I've really done so
far is restart transmission-daemon to avoid exhausting memory. I haven't
added more torrents or changed my configuration in any way. Please let me
know what I can do or what information I can provide to help fix this
issue. Thanks!
