I have taken this opportunity and created a nagios2-dbg package. Can you please try nagios2_2.3-1.0 from http://zg.debian.zugschlus.de/zg/pool/main/nagios2/ and see whether you can get a more meaningful backtrace when using nagios2-dbg?
