Not sure what exactly it is you consider harmless. Let me try elaborate on my views on this: Contracts are silly, but a real legal issue. Software that requires signing a contract is "non-free by proxy" which in Debian means "contrib". Software that tricks you into signing a contract despite not technically needed is non-free but might be easy to patch to become free. Which parts of the above do you disagree with, how?
