Bug#1004130: debian logo displayed partly off screen

Actually, my laptop screen resolution configuration should not be 
relevant: it's a KDE Plasma level setting, not available in an early 
boot environment (root and home are even on an encrypted volume, not yet 
mounted). I tried looking into /boot and the initramfs and can't find 
any sign that the KDE screen setting is somewhat persisted there (but 
could have missed it).

Still:
1) Laptop only: the Plymouth display is fine;
2) External screen connected: the external screen is OK, the Plymouth 
display on the laptop is truncated.

The grub screen resolution configuration doesn't seem to have an effect 
on this.
