I noticed that this was originally reported in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1031773 but with so few details that it did not lead into a deeper investigation at that time, and later again in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1031863 which lead to proper investigation.
