I'm sorry I have been out of the loop.

I'm using the machine in question for an art installation the end of
this week, so I'm not going to change anything while its currently
working (doing a mknod for the video device on bootup).

I downloaded 2.6.16 and the ck patches, so I'll plug it in as soon as I
can. I also noticed that my external firewire drive gets found by the
kernel but udev does not create a device for it. I'm sure your right
that its a udev-kernel mismatch.

Thank you for your time. I will respond to this thread when I get the
results and close the report!
