Package: nvidia-kernel-source Version: 1.0.8756-4 Severity: important Justification: fails to build from source
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am bitten by the "register_chrdev" bug with 2.6.16, so I'm trying to compile the drivers myself. $ sudo apt-get --build source nvidia-kernel-2.6.16-1-k7 .... tar: /usr/src/nvidia-kernel-legacy-source.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory $ less nvidia-graphics-modules-i386-1.0.8756+1/debian/rules .... unpack-stamp: .... tar zxf /usr/src/nvidia-kernel-legacy-source.tar.gz .... # cp debian/changelog modules/nvidia-kernel-legacy/debian It appears that someone forgot to comment out that line too. Since I can't have both nvidia-kernel and nvidia-kernel-legacy installed (one requires X 6.9, the other requires 7.0, and you can't have both 6.9 and 7.0 installed), I can't even install the package to fix that. So it fails to build. Out of curiosity, how did this bug manage to slip by? The package won't build, so how...? - -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (650, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-1-k7 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages nvidia-kernel-source depends on: ii debhelper 5.0.34 helper programs for debian/rules ii dpatch 2.0.19 patch maintenance system for Debia ii make 3.81-2 The GNU version of the "make" util ii sed 4.1.5-1 The GNU sed stream editor Versions of packages nvidia-kernel-source recommends: ii devscripts 2.9.19 Scripts to make the life of a Debi ii kernel-package 10.047 A utility for building Linux kerne ii nvidia-glx 1.0.8756-4 NVIDIA binary XFree86 4.x driver - -- no debconf information -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFEaWSV5+GdyTDsrJsRAkB3AKDaLcSLKeeBoS3heaTtR9Fc64updACguZ1D fydbgVIFs829JjXF4z00wWg= =Invs -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
