According to the manpage, this is the expected behaviour. But it's
confusing... I'm setting $DEBEMAIL, because some packages are using it
on build-time to set compile-settings (e.g. who built the package),
for example xorg-x11 or vim.
It would be nice if you could rename the variablename to something
else.
