Package: lintian Version: 2.115.3 Severity: wishlist
I'm maintaining a high 2-digit number of addon packages for the puredata ecosystem. The de-facto standard for such addon packages (within the ecosystem) is to bundle all documentation and a license file into a single directory, and install that into /usr/lib/pd/extra/. The "documentation" consists of example 'programs' (often with accompanying image files), which can be browsed/used/... interactively from withing the puredata IDE. In order to not break upstream expectations (and upstream tools that scan for these files in the usual places), I find myself adding dozens of overrides for 'image-file-in-usr-lib'. Therefore I kindly request that lintian does not emit an "image-file-in-usr-lib" warning if documentation is found within a subdirectory of /usr/lib/pd/extra/. Thanks for your consideration.
