The bug is quit old. Please try to reproduce that problem with the current upstream release. If you can reproduce it please open an Issue at upstream and link it here.
Based on your report I'm not sure if this is maybe Debian specific.Can you also please test the current BIT 1.3.2 from Debians "unstable" branch?
