I have seen other packages that added a dependency to package sse2-support in such cases. That would not solve the issue, but would make it visible at installation time for the user, if I understand it right.
Thanks for the hint. My "git diff" below. As far as I understood I need to declare a Pre-Dep....wait: the sse2-support fails already in preinst if SSE2 support is missing, so a Dep should be OK. Do you agree?
