It looks like you are using a version of that library from the
deb-multimedia repository (see the quoted package dependencies list of
your mail), which I don't know if geeqie works with.
Thank you very much Andreas, that was the source of the issue! With the
package provided by the Debian testing repository, Geeqie works fine.
