During Ubuntu's Main Inclusion review, it was requested that the build
should fail on Ubuntu if symbols disappear.
I'm conflicted about this, when Ubuntu decides the diverge from Debian
the burden should be on them.
Antonio, do you want to carry these Ubuntu specific changes?

I think that this specific change does not harm and it is not too invasive.
I merged the PR before reading your message, but if you think that
merging is not a good idea I can revert.
