PETSc upstream confirms the bug is indeed in sundials, see https://gitlab.com/petsc/petsc/-/issues/1277 "This should be fixed in latest sundials (6.4.0/6.4.1) For 5.8.0 - the fix would be to remove 'ierr = ' - for the calls to PetscOptionsBegin()/PetscOptionsEnd()"
