I happen to be one of the maintainers of autopkgtest and I just happened to notice that your autopkgtest depends on autopkgtest. However, I can't find where in the gscan2pdf test you actually use that dependency. Is it really needed? Obviously you need autopkgtest to run your test within the autopkgtest framework, but in that case autopkgtest already needs to be installed beforehand on the host that creates the testbed, so you wouldn't need to declare it.
