Thanks for the report. This is a feature request not a bug.
And BIT does offer other ways (SSH, user-callback, ...) to access such devices.
smb:// urls wont be supported in the future. Access that machine via SSH or mount the smb share via an user-callback script.
Please close that report because it is not a bug.
