Package: apt-get
Version: apt 2.5.2 (i386)

addendum to my email of 18.09.2022 22:11

The problematic nature lies deeper.

1. for muon (e.g.):

/var/log/dpkg.log shows:

2022-09-18 20:15:28
status installed muon:i386 4:5.08.-2

2022-09-18 20:15:29

2022-09-18 20:15:29
status half-configured muon:i386 4:5.08.-2

2022-09-18 20:15:29
status half-installed muon:i386 4:5.08.-2

2022-09-18 20:15:29
status triggers-pending hicolor-icon-theme:all 0.17-2

2022-09-18 20:15:30
status config-files muon:i386 4:5.08.-2

2022-09-18 20:15:30
status not-installed muon:i386 <none>

dpkg-query --status muon

shows:

dpkg-query: package 'muon' is not installed and no information is available

(remark: muon I have had installed by hand)

2. for konsole (e.g.):

2022-09-18 20:15:37
status installed konsole:i386 4:22.04.1-1

2022-09-18 20:15:37
remove konsole:i386 4:22.04.1-1 <none>

2022-09-18 20:15:37
status half-installed konsole:i386 4:22.04.1-1

2022-09-18 20:15:39
status config-files konsole:i386 4:22.04.1-1

dpkg-query --status konsole

shows:

Status: deinstall ok config-files
... many lines ...

=====

( my email of 18.09.2022 22:11 without correct pseudo-header lines)

On the way to repaire my system KNOPPIX 9.1, which was damaged by aptitude, that had removed thousands of packages, I have just used apt-get:

apt-get install kde-runtime

This gave a long list of depends error masseges ref. libqtcore4, the last lines were:

libsolid4 : Depends: libqtcore4 (>= 4:4.8.0) but it is not installable.

Then I have made:

apt-get install libqtcore4

While apt-get was working, apt-get had removed very many packages, e.g. muon, and, e.g., konsole !!!!

After this apt-get was finished, I have repeated:

apt-get install kde-runtime

The result was the same long list as described above.

However libqtcore4 is correctly installed.

dpkg-query --status libqtcore4

shows::

Status: install ok installed
Version: 4:8.4.7+dfsg-18+deb10u1

Now I have to reinstall konsole, muon, and the many other senselessly removed packages. - days of hard work.

( München had 10 years worked to intruduce Linux in the city goverment and gave up. In Linux is all weird and unreliable. Must it be? )
