Package: libnet-dns-perl
Version: 1.29-1
Severity: normal
Control: found -1 1.34-1
Dear maintainers,
libnet-dns-perl has an unnecessary dependency on libnet-ip-perl because
the module Net::IP is nowhere used nor is it referenced in META.json or
META.yml (cf. https://metacpan.org/dist/Net-DNS) as far as I can see.
And Test::More from libtest-simple-perl is just a build-time dependency.
So this dependency could also be removed although it does not
necessarily install another Debian package since it is also provided by
package perl.
Net::DNS has support for and prefers Net::LibIDN2 since version 1.13
which means for already some years. But libnet-dns-perl still only
recommends libnet-libidn-perl. I know libnet-libidn2-perl has not yet
been packaged (cf. RFP #1019279). Even though could you please replace
libnet-libidn-perl by 'libnet-libidn2-perl | libnet-libidn-perl'.
All this is also still true for the currently packaged version 1.34-1 in
bookworm and sid.
Thank you in advance!
Thomas Uhle
