Pushed to salsa, thanks for the patch!

(IIRC this was intentional at first to avoid being tempted to run 
d/t/upstream-tests
manually and mess up with the local environment, but the check for 
$AUTOPKGTEST_TMP
is a better guard against such mishaps.)
