In GNOME Wayland, Thunderbird 102.1.1 does not show its own icon neither on the dash, on the top panel nor in the Alt+Tab window switcher. Instead, it shows a generic icon. I fixed that by modifying the StartupWMClass key in the thunderbird.desktop file. I changed it into: StartupWMClass=thunderbird-default Apparently the app class ID changed to thunderbird-default, instead of just thunderbird. I noticed that by looking at what is shown on the dash tooltip and on the top panel when Thunderbird is focused.
