Package: debhelper Version: 13.8 Severity: normal Hi,
I have a package, gensio-bin, which contains one seldomly used debugging utility. I would therefore like to not hard Depend on python and have added ${python3:Depends} to the Recommends line. That however ends up in a warning from dpkg-gencontrol: dpkg-gencontrol: warning: Recommends field of package gensio-bin: substitution variable ${python3:Depends} used, but is not defined and no dependency on python at all. Is that the intended behavior? If it's not debhelper proper expanding ${python3:Depends}, then please reassign to the appropriate package. Thanks.
