This bug is from 2014, but I did just notice these commits to upstream
https://github.com/linux-ras/sysfsutils/commit/085bba6bab1ccaa89041639a7e070390fdea440athat look like they probably fix this. However it looks like they happened _after_ the 2.1.1 release.
It would be good to confirm those commits fix the leaks (and maybe confirm there aren't any others introduced since 2014) and then also for upstream to release a new version with the fixes.
