Hm, I could only get NM to crash if /e/n/i is completely empty and only
contains the above two lines.
If I additionally add

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

or

iface eth0 inet (static|dhcp)
mapping eth0
        script /usr/bin/echo

I can't get NM to segfault anymore. Can you confirm that?

I'm not sure if a simple

mapping eth0
        script /usr/bin/echo

is a valid configuration for /e/n/i (have to read the docs for ifupdown
first) and most people will have lo configured in /e/n/i anyways and so
are not affected by this bug. Nevertheless NM should not simply segfault
of course for this configuration. I'll take a look at it.

Thanks so far,
Michael
