OK.  Well, I can't reproduce it using -O0, which at first made me think
this was 'just' an optimizer bug.  Now that you say it still breaks fro
you even with -O0, I have no idea where the stack corruption is coming
from.  I am unfortunately going on holiday for the next week, and likely
won't be able to get much more done on this in the meantime.  I am
tagging it help in case some brae soul wants to hack on something.

I'll be at Debconf starting next Friday, so I hope to get back to work
on this then.
