I just tried this again. It does work now. Thanks! But the misleading message is still there. It still says:
Note, selecting 'gnuplot-data' instead of '/tmp/gnuplot-data_5.2.8+dfsg1-2dima1_all.deb' This suggest to the user that the program is doing something other than what was requested. But it then actually does the right thing. Can we reword the message? Thanks!
