I worked on a debdiff, mainly updating the (arch-specific) symbols files, to reflect the version bump, but only could do that for the architectures I have access to (which are the ones that are supported by Ubuntu). Since Debian has an even broader architecture support, I think it would be beneficial to update nettle on Debian too. Debian stable, testing and unstable ship currently nettle 3.7.3. I'm not a Debian developer nor maintainer, but might offer some help on this. I've checked the only quilt patch 'fPIC.patch' that should stay even with the new version and think with the effort on the version bump the Debian bug #1013843 can be addressed too (in d/c).
