But even though rsyslog as a program does still work without systemd, the rsyslog as a package arguably doesn't, since installing it into a system doesn't provide it with the logging functionality anymore, due to the daemon not being automatically started on each boot-up. And it is not clear to a user how to fix that. As such I would then suggest considering: "Depends: systemd | orphan-sysvinit-scripts" Thanks -- With respect, Roman
