Package: snmpd Version: 5.1.2-6.2 Severity: important Fetching HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrStorageAllocationFailures.2 causes snmpd to spinlock (strace says its constantly trying to open /etc/mtab)
This appears to be the same bug as discussed here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=986238&group_id=12694&atid=112694 But this patch appears to be applied already. To reproduce: 1. apt-get install snmpd snmp 2. Edit /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf, comment out the paranoid com2sec line (line 61), and uncomment line 62 (the com2sec readonly line). 3. /etc/init.d/snmpd restart 4. snmpget -v 1 -c public localhost .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.2.3.1.7.2 This will set snmpd to 100% CPU and will not answer any further requests. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-3-k7-smp Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages snmpd depends on: ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22sarge3 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libsensors3 1:2.9.1-1sarge3 library to read temperature/voltag ii libsnmp5 5.1.2-6.2 NET SNMP (Simple Network Managemen ii libwrap0 7.6.dbs-8 Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
