Hi,

We just stumbled upon this issue, and it was really a bad surprise
because machines would just not return from boot. We had to get a KVM
switch to restore service.

Even there, it was far from obvious that this was the solution,
especially since, as Roel van Meer correctly pointed out, the workaround
is not the one recommended by upstream, still now.

Even if that is a solution, that would at least merit a NEWS.Debian
warning so that people would have a chance to update their
/etc/network/interfaces file accordingly. The only reason we figured out
the solution is my colleague dug deep in the BTS and found this
(closed!) bug...

I understand this might not be fixed in bullseye: maybe we could do an
errata in the release notes or something. But at least README.Debian
should reflect this new configuration, in unstable going forward.

With that in mind, I reopened this bug report to signal that this is
definitely still an issue in bullseye, if only as a documentation
problem.

Thanks!

a.
